Privacy policy
Effective November 2, 2026
Addie Lectures is a personal Android study app maintained by Gary Baglin. This policy explains how the app and this informational website handle information.
Information stored on your phone
The app stores recordings, attached photos and files, lecture titles, transcripts, summaries, notes, bookmarks, questions and answers, class details, schedules, and preferences on your device. Microphone access is used when you start recording. Selected schedule photos, PDFs, or text are used for the import you request. The Take photo action opens your camera app and saves the confirmed photo as a lecture attachment. Attach file copies your selected file into private app storage.
Your OpenRouter API key is stored encrypted using Android Keystore. The app stores a Google account identifier to keep the library connected to the same Drive account and displays the connected account’s email. It does not receive your Google password.
Google Drive and Google Docs
When you connect Google Drive, the app requests the drive.file permission to work with files it creates or files you explicitly authorize. It does not request unrestricted access to your entire Drive.
The app creates folders, uploads lecture audio and attachments, and creates or updates Google Docs containing lecture metadata, transcripts, summaries, notes, bookmarks, an audio link, and attachment links with lecture timestamps. It reads back file metadata and document content to verify backups and may download previously backed-up audio for playback. Future exports replace the app-created document’s content; changes made in Drive do not sync back into the app.
These files are stored in your connected Google account. Operating the Cloud project does not itself give the developer access to your Drive files. Google handles account and service data under its Privacy Policy.
AI processing through OpenRouter
After you configure your OpenRouter key and models, finished lectures can be processed automatically when network settings allow. Audio is sent to OpenRouter and its transcription providers. Transcript content is sent for summaries and titles. Questions and relevant lecture passages are sent for answers. Lecture attachment contents are not sent for AI summaries or answers. AI schedule import sends selected images, rendered PDF pages, or pasted text to the configured text model.
These requests go from your device to OpenRouter; the app developer does not run an intermediary server for lecture content. OpenRouter and its model providers have their own retention and data-use practices. Do not assume zero retention or that every provider excludes training. Review OpenRouter’s Privacy Policy, your account settings, and the selected provider’s policies before sending content. AI requests can incur charges on your account.
How information is used and shared
App data is used to provide recording, organization, study, and backup features. The app does not include advertising, analytics tracking, or a developer-operated lecture-content collection service. The developer does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising or general-purpose AI training. Use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention, deletion, and your controls
- Starting with version 0.6.0, local audio is automatically removed after the audio, attachments, and current lecture document pass backup verification. This includes eligible older backups when the app is updated. Playback downloads a verified temporary copy from Drive; it requires internet and temporary phone storage. The playback copy is released when the player closes or the app exits. Transcripts, notes, summaries, and attached files stay on the phone until you remove them or delete the lecture or class. Earlier versions 0.2.0–0.5.3 kept local audio after backup.
- Deleting local content does not delete its Drive copies. Delete those separately in Google Drive, including Trash when appropriate.
- You can revoke the app’s Google access in Google Account connections. Revoking access does not delete existing files.
- Remove or revoke your OpenRouter API key to stop future authorized AI requests. This does not erase content already processed by a provider; consult that provider for retention or deletion requests.
- Clearing Android app storage or uninstalling removes the app’s local library and settings. Keep needed exports first. The app does not provide a complete library restore workflow.
Schedule import source files are not kept as a permanent app archive; the selected original may remain in its original location. Imported schedule entries remain until removed.
This website and support
This website contains informational pages only, with no recording uploads, advertising, or analytics scripts added by the developer. Hosting infrastructure may process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the site. If you email support, your address and message are used to respond. Do not send recordings, API keys, or other sensitive information unless necessary and explicitly requested.
Security and policy changes
Network requests use HTTPS, and the OpenRouter key is encrypted on the device. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your phone and connected accounts. Material changes to these practices will be reflected in this policy and, where appropriate, in the app before new data uses begin.
